On February 8, 2021 the Honourable Mark L. Edwards, a judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario, was appointed Regional Senior Judge of the Superior Court of Justice for the Central East Region. Mr. Justice Edwards replaces Madam Justice M.K. Fuerst, who returned to the regular complement of active judges effective January 1, 2021. Read the news release here.

The following notice was amended on January 26, 2021 to provide for use of the Small Claims Court Submissions Online Portal:

Consolidated Notice to the Profession and Public Regarding the Small Claims Court

On January 25, 2021 the Justice Services Online (JSO) platform will be expanded to enable online filing of Small Claims Court (SmCC) documents that cannot currently be filed through Service Ontario’s Small Claims Online platform. Read FOLA’s notice here.

As well, the DRO program is restarting effective March 1, 2021 (two DROs on Mondays and Fridays for the month of March at this time, one DRO on those days (at this time) for April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022). The DROs will be dealing with Motion to Change proceedings and parties will be expected to comply with the Family Law Rules governing Case Conferences (hence the handout above).
